Malaysia and Singapore
Our first stop in Malaysia was Penang. This city is full of history and we were lucky enough to have a great local guide show us around the area. We also went on a hunt for some street art and found some really cool designs all around the city. We even had to go inside a restaurant to find one! Lunch was has at a cute cafe and the rest of the afternoon was spent at the pool trying to combat the heat. Later we went to Penang Hill for supper, sunset and some live music.
Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia (or Malay as some locals call it), was the next stop on our journey south. This is a bustling city full of things to do. We explored the markets before heading to the Petronas Towers for a light show. These towers were quite high and it was cool to see them all lit up at night. The following morning we went on a food tour around KL, exploring various areas of the city such as Little India and Chinatown. It was fun to try all the different foods - everything was delicious! I couldn’t eat another morsel by the end. In order to try and work off all we had just eaten, we climbed the 300+ stairs to the Batu Caves. The stairs were quite cool as they were multicoloured. Inside there were Hindu temples and thankfully no bats! That evening we went back to the Petronas Towers, but this time got the chance to go to the top and check out the view. Afterwards I was fortunate enough to get together with a friend now living in KL. It was so amazing to be able to catch
up on the other side of the world. Thanks again, Kellee! 💕
Our final destination in Malaysia was Melaka. Here we jumped on some decked out rickshaws and explored the city. It was filled with cute shops and restaurants and had a really awesome night market.

Next it was onto Singapore. Our first stop was the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands hotel in order to get a good look at the city. It’s amazing how many high rises have been built in the last number of years. After that we walked out to the “Gardens by the Bay”. This was so cool! They had cloud and flower domes to explore as well as light and water shows. Definitely not something to miss if you’re in the area. Sadly, the next morning I had to say goodbye to another group of beautiful souls. Farewells are never easy, but it’s always great to remember that you just have new friends in another pocket of the world.
