Final Adventures in South America
After spending the morning at Machu Picchu, Erin and I wandered the streets of Aguas Calientes in search of good wifi and a comfy couch. Fortunately, we found the perfect spot - which was even equipped with a blazing fire and the best staff around! You know you're in the right place when after three hours they still haven't kicked you out and instead ask you for a dance.
The following two days were spent exploring more of what Cusco has to offer including local markets and restaurants. We couldn't leave without heading up to San Blas in order to get a view of the entire city.
Lima was our next stop and after a morning yoga class, we headed straight for the water. Erin went surfing, while I was content relaxing on the beach. Before we left, I went out to put my toes in the Pacific Ocean - something I wanted to check off my bucket list. I got completely drenched by the waves, haha. Thankfully the water was surprisingly warm!
The following day we decided to go on a day trip to Paracas and Huacachina. Paracas is advertised as "the poor man's Galapagos", where we got to see lots of different birds, sea lions and even a couple penguins! I didn't realize that there were penguins in Peru, so that was quite the surprise! It also felt a bit like home to be back on the water, which was nice.

Our last day in Lima was spent on a city tour and trying out some different Peruvian dishes. The churros were amazing. Alpaca was quite salty. We couldn't stomach trying the guinea pig. The seafood however, was delicious!
Travelling to Peru was incredible. I'm really grateful that I got to share the experience with my cousin. If you're at all interested, I would highly recommend making the trip there. Peru has so much history and culture and attractions that there really is something for everybody. We were only there 12 days, but you could easily spend three weeks there and still have lots to do.
I'm currently sitting in the Toronto airport waiting to board my flight to Asia. These last few days have been a whirlwind as I flew home to celebrate my brother's wedding. It was an amazing time celebrating two people who I love dearly with all the family. Hopefully I'll have some more stories from across the pond for you soon. Until then, thanks for reading.

Huacachina is a lagoon in the middle of the desert. Here we were able to ride dune buggies and go sand boarding. Riding the dunes was like going on a rollercoaster. Our guide definitely did not hold back! Sand boarding was terrifying. You lie flat on your stomach and hold on to two random pieces of fabric on a small board as you plunge head first and 90 degrees down the dune. But, after a few runs I got the hang of it and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
